What the 80-mark paper is actually made of

Half the paper is now competency-based — case studies, application, reasoning — which is why rote-learning answers from a guide stopped working. Another fifth is objective, including assertion–reason. Only the last 30% is the classic short and long answer writing that older question banks drill.

Are these actual CBSE previous year question papers?
No. This page does not host scans of past CBSE papers, and we will not pretend it does. What it gives you is every question type CBSE asks in Class 10, chapter by chapter, with a worked answer under each one. For genuine past papers and official sample papers, go to cbseacademic.nic.in.
Why practise by chapter instead of by year?
Because that is how revision actually works. A past paper tells you what was asked in one particular year; a chapter set tells you what gets asked from that chapter in any year. When you are two weeks out and weak on Electricity, you need twenty Electricity questions, not five papers with one Electricity question each.
How many marks is the CBSE Class 10 paper?
Each subject is out of 100: an 80-mark written board paper plus 20 marks of internal assessment from your school. You need 33% to pass, and you have to clear both components.
What is the pattern of the Class 10 board paper?
Roughly 50% competency-based questions (case study, application, reasoning), 20% objective questions including assertion–reason, and 30% short and long answer. That is why the sets below mix MCQ, 2-mark and 3-mark questions in every chapter rather than only giving you long answers.
Does the two-phase board exam change what I should practise?
No. Phase 2 in May uses the same syllabus and the same marking scheme as Phase 1 in February — it is an optional second attempt to improve selected subjects, and the better score counts. The practice is identical.
