Inside the flower
Pollination and fertilisation.
Flower and seed
A flower makes a seed after pollen reaches it.

What this lesson covers
The idea
Pollen grains in a flower's anther are male gametes and ovules deep inside are female gametes; after pollination they combine in fertilisation, forming a zygote that becomes the seed, while the fleshy part around the ovule becomes fruit.

Pollination, fertilisation
In flowering plants, pollen carries male gametes to the female part of a flower. This is pollination. The male gamete then joins the female gamete. This is fertilisation, and the fertilised cell grows into a seed.
Pollination: pollen reaches the female part. Fertilisation: male gamete joins female gamete. The result grows into a seed.
