CBSE Class 8 syllabus — every chapter, all four subjects
Thirty-two chapters across Maths, Science, Social Science and English. Before the lists, one thing worth knowing: CBSE does not publish a Class 8 syllabus document at all. The book is the syllabus, and your school sets the paper.

There is no CBSE Class 8 syllabus PDF
We checked, because half the internet says otherwise. CBSE's curriculum page publishes documents under exactly three headings — Secondary Part 1 for Class IX, Secondary Part 1 for Class X, and Secondary Part 2 for XI-XII. There is nothing for Classes 6, 7 or 8.
So at this level the NCERT textbook is the syllabus, and assessment is the school's. That is why this page gives you chapters and no mark tables: there is no board weighting to report, and inventing one would be worse than saying so. The pages for Class 9 and Class 10 do carry marks, because there CBSE actually publishes them.

What Class 8 is actually for
It is the last year before the books change again and the marks start counting. Two things in this year's Maths — distributing over brackets, and proportional reasoning — are assumed knowledge in Class 9 Algebra, which is worth twenty of eighty marks there. Science is the last integrated book before Class 9 begins separating the streams. Nothing here is examined by a board, and all of it is examined later.
CBSE Class 8 syllabus — common questions
- Where is the official CBSE Class 8 syllabus?
- There is not one. CBSE publishes curriculum documents for Classes 9 to 12 only — its curriculum page lists Secondary (IX-X) and Senior Secondary (XI-XII) and nothing below that. For Class 8 the syllabus is the NCERT textbook, and the exam is set by your school. Any site offering you a "CBSE Class 8 syllabus PDF" is repackaging the book contents.
- How many chapters are in CBSE Class 8?
- Across the four core subjects, thirty-two: Mathematics 7, Science 13, Social Science 7 and English 5. Maths has the fewest chapters and the longest ones.
- What are the Class 8 marks and exam pattern?
- There is no board-published mark scheme at this level. Schools set their own papers and their own weightings, so the honest answer is to ask your school rather than trust a number found online. The 80 + 20 pattern people quote belongs to Classes 9 and 10.
- Why does Class 8 Maths have only seven chapters?
- Because the new NCERT series reorganised the subject rather than trimming it. Seven longer chapters replace a longer list of shorter ones, and the algebra in "We Distribute, Yet Things Multiply" and "Proportional Reasoning-1" is what Class 9 assumes you already have.
