NCERT replaced the Class 9 Mathematics, Science and Social Science textbooks for 2026–27. Maths went from fifteen chapters to eight, Science is now thirteen integrated chapters, and the four Social Science books became one. If a chapter name looks wrong, it probably is not

“Orienting Yourself: The Use of Coordinates” is a real Class 9 Maths chapter now. So is “I'm Up and Down, and Round and Round”. The new NCERT books name chapters after the idea being taught rather than the topic label, which is disorienting for about a week and then makes sense.
