Plotting Points: The Coordinate Map
Treat coordinates like an address: X is the street, Y is the floor. Plot (3, 4) to see how it works.
Equation
y = x

What this lesson covers
What you do
You shape the function y = x and watch the graph answer.
Challenges to clear
- Plot the point (3, 4): street 3, floor 4.
- Order matters: x comes FIRST — confirm your x_target reads 3, not 4.
- Plot (−2, 5). Walk the street first: slide x_target to −2, which means 2 steps LEFT of the origin.
- Now the floor: slide y_target to 5. x always comes first, y second — (−2, 5) is nowhere near (5, −2).
Check yourself
You need to plot the point (-3, 2). Where do you start?
- Start at origin, move 3 units LEFT, then 2 units UP. — correct
- Start at origin, move 3 units RIGHT, then 2 units UP.
- Start at origin, move 2 units LEFT, then 3 units UP.
- Start at origin, move 3 units LEFT, then 2 units DOWN.
Think about it
- If we change the first number (x), which way does the point move?
