Lesson 6 ·Class 9 · Tissues : Plant and Animal Tissues · Sort Lab

Connective Tissue

Binding, supporting and transporting.

Sort each connective tissue by the job it does.

Sorted 0/8
All items sorted — check each bin.

Free play — sort every item into the bin it belongs in; each correct drop tells you why. Switch to when you're ready to test yourself.

All connective tissue is cells scattered in a matrix. The matrix decides the job: fibrous, hard, or liquid.

What this lesson covers

What you do

  • Tendon and ligament sound alike — remember tendon ties Tissue-to-bone (muscle), ligament Links bone to bone.

Challenges to clear

  • Fill the Fluid transport bin correctly.
  • Sort every tissue.
  • Fill the Binding & packing box — the connective tissue that fills the gaps.

The task

Sort each connective tissue by the job it does.

What this lesson covers

  • Binding & packing: Areolar tissue — fills spaces between organs (The general packing material of the body.); Adipose tissue — stores fat and insulates (Fat-filled cells under the skin and around organs.); Tendon — joins muscle to bone (Dense fibrous tissue built to resist pulling.); Ligament — joins bone to bone (Elastic yet strong, so joints hold together and still move.)
  • Skeletal support: Bone — rigid, with calcium salts in its matrix (The hardest connective tissue; forms the skeleton.); Cartilage — firm but flexible (Found at joint surfaces, ear and nose tip.)
  • Fluid transport: Blood — cells suspended in plasma (A connective tissue whose matrix is liquid.); Lymph — drains tissue fluid back to the blood (It also carries digested fat from the intestine.)

Hint

All connective tissue is cells scattered in a matrix. The matrix decides the job: fibrous, hard, or liquid.
