The book changed. So did the search results.

Almost everything written about Class 9 English online still refers to Beehive and Moments. Those are the previous books. For 2026-27 the prescribed text is Kaveri: Textbook of English for Grade 9, named in CBSE's own curriculum document, and the eight texts below are its contents. Summaries you find under the old titles will not match what you are being examined on.

Class 9 English syllabus — common questions

What is the Class 9 English textbook for 2026-27?
Kaveri: Textbook of English for Grade 9. That is the name printed in the CBSE curriculum document. If you are searching for chapter summaries under Beehive or Moments, those are the old books — the texts have changed.
How is the Class 9 English paper divided?
Eighty marks in three sections: Reading Skills 20, Writing Skills and Grammar 30, and Language through Literature 30. Literature is therefore not the biggest section — writing and grammar match it exactly, and together they are three-quarters of the paper.
How many chapters are in Kaveri?
Eight, listed on this page. Because the literature section is worth 30 of 80, each text carries real weight — there is no long tail of optional reading.
Where do most Class 9 English marks get lost?
In Section B. Reading and Literature reward familiarity with the text; writing and grammar reward practice under time, which is the part students skip. Thirty marks is a lot to leave to instinct.
